The lovely College Fashionista Fashion Guru from Ryerson University, Christina Dun was nice enough to do a Fashionista Spotlight on me today! Here's a taster of the post:

More media coverage
No designer names actually appeared in this article but that was our show! There are my dresses again! And they actually used one of my dresses as the big picture in the article! Pretty exciting stuff!

Look who's on Flare.com!
I just came across this link on Toronto fashion stylist Kate O'Reilly's Facebook page, and it turns out that my 4th year collection along with the 24 other girls' featured in the curated show ended up on Flare.com! Pretty exciting to be on a website other than Facebook or my own blog!

Illustrations
So I know I've been pretty MIA for the past 6 months or so, but I just recently did a new set of illustrations for my collection as some minor details have changed since the last set were done, and I tried out a bit of a new style that I actually don't think turned out too bad so I thought I'd share them.
All done in marker and water-colour paints.

Decisions, decisions
As it turns out, narrowing down my designs from 30 to 5 to form a cohesive collection proved more difficult than I thought, but here is my tentative 5-piece collection!
I might still do some franken-designing with elements from other dresses that didn't get chosen but like I said, here's the tentative line-up

Final Collection
For my last year of school we have to design and produce a collection of our choice. I've decided to do women's couture eveningwear inspired by origami and different manipulations of fabric. So here are some of my potential designs, but it has to be narrowed down to 5... which do you like?

Your favourite new DIY blog
If you're a crafty kinda person and in need of a few projects for the summer then you're in luck, as I have just happened to come across the perfect little DIY blog for the fashionista with some time on their hands! While Honestly... WTF is not a DIY only blog and only posts about one new DIY project per week, there are plenty in their archives to choose from (I should know, I've spent the past little while looking through them)! Some that I personally can't wait to try are the origami brooch and the lace earrings. The instructions seem surprisingly easy and the resulting projects look super impressive, so give it a look and if you have any success stories definitely let me know!

A store that stole my heart
On another unnecessary shopping trip of mine, I stumbled upon a new store (well new location at least) called Durumi & Chocolate Shoes that is one of the cutest little Queen West shops I've seen in a while! They have an adorably eclectic selection of shoes, apparel and accessories that are a perfect combination of fun, artistic and unique. The apparel all incorporates various prints, fabrics and textures and puts a darling twist on ordinary pieces. The accessories are one-of-a-kind (I think, don't quote me on that!) and feature everything from fabric earrings to the cutest pocket-watch-necklaces you've ever seen (including one with an Audrey Hepburn print case and one in the shape of a robot!) and even one of my personal favourite new trends- shoe clips! As far as the chocolate shoes part of the store goes, they perfectly compliment the style and tone of the apparel and accessories and have a plethora of sweet ballerina flats, sassy heels and everything inbetween, all with unique twists on your favourite basics in colours that look good enough to eat. Incase you haven't picked up on it, I completely fell for this store's charm! Definitely a must-see store for anyone who is visiting or lives in Toronto (located at Queen and Spadina)!
What I bought:
May need to go back for one of those watch-necklaces...
